Airbag Lite vacuum compression carry-on backpack in matt black

Best Vacuum Compression Backpacks Compared (2026): Published Specs Side by Side

A built-in vacuum compression backpack lets you squeeze the air out of soft clothes so more fits in a cabin-size bag. Several brands now make one. This page compares the ones whose specs are published on their own product pages, including ours, so you can choose the one that suits you. We sell the Airbag Lite, so we've kept to published facts and linked every source. Specs were checked on 13 October 2026, and brands can change them, so check the linked page before you buy.

How to choose

  • You need a laptop compartment: Airback, Black Voyage and Nomadvac all list one, and the Airbag Lite has a dedicated laptop sleeve that fits up to 17-inch.
  • You want the slimmest cabin footprint: compare the unexpanded depth. The Airbag Lite is 10 cm deep unexpanded; the others list 15–20 cm. Expanded or overpacked, any of these may exceed your airline's limits.
  • You plan to expand the bag: Nomadvac's expanded size (60 × 32 × 23 cm) is larger than many airlines' cabin limits, so check before flying.
  • You already own a bag you like: a vacuum packing bag like the Ekster kit adds compression without buying a new backpack. See also vacuum packing cubes vs a built-in vacuum backpack.
  • You want the pump included without an add-on: the Airbag Lite includes its Air Pump Lite, and Black Voyage and Ekster Pro list a pump in the box. On Airback's product page the Air Pump Pro is offered as a bundle.

Who the Airbag Lite is not for

  • Anyone hoping to save weight. Compression saves space, not weight, and airline weight limits still apply.
  • Packing mostly shoes, bottles or rigid items. These don't compress; only soft clothes do.
  • Travellers who want a guaranteed under-seat personal item. At 48 × 32 × 10 cm it's a cabin-size bag, and allowances vary by airline and fare.

What all vacuum backpacks have in common

About the Airbag Lite

The Airbag Lite is a matt black carry-on backpack in water-resistant nylon with built-in vacuum compression. You seal the compression compartment and press the air out by hand; the included Air Pump Lite (USB-C) helps draw out the rest. It has a TSA-accepted combination lock, a 2-year limited warranty (warranty) and a 30-day return window (refund policy). The current price for your country is shown on the product page.
