How to read this chart
- Personal item = the small bag that goes under the seat in front of you. It’s the one bag almost every fare includes.
- Overhead cabin bag = the larger bag for the locker. On many European low-cost fares (Ryanair, Wizz Air, Vueling Fly Light, Norwegian LowFare) it is a paid extra.
- Handles, wheels and pockets count on most airlines. Measure your bag packed, at its widest point.
- Weight limits differ a lot, from 8 kg (Lufthansa) to 23 kg (BA). Air France and KLM count the small bag and hand baggage together (12 kg in Economy).
- Mixed itinerary? Pack to the strictest airline on your trip.

Where the Airbag Lite fits
We make the Airbag Lite vacuum compression carry-on backpack. Measured against the published numbers above:
- Unexpanded size 48 × 32 × 10 cm (about 19 × 12.5 × 4 in). That is within the overhead cabin-bag dimensions published by every airline in this chart, but carry-on rules vary by airline and fare, so check with your airline before you fly. Weight limits still apply, so weigh it packed.
- It is not a free under-seat personal item on any airline here that publishes a size: at 48 cm it is longer than the 40–45 cm (or 17–18 in) limits. Plan to use a cabin-bag allowance.
- It expands to 48 × 32 × 15 cm for extra packing. If the bag is expanded or overpacked, it may no longer meet carry-on limits, so compress it, or keep it unexpanded, for cabin use.
- The Air Pump Lite is included free (not sold separately). You press soft clothes down by hand, then the pump draws out the remaining air. Compression saves space, not weight.
